4-H - FFA LIVESTOCK GENERAL INFORMATION Only Extension Agents 4-H Club Leaders or Vo-Ag Teachers will help supervise grooming. Vo-Ag Teacher, Extension 4-H Agents and judges will be given exhibitors' passes. Exhibitors will be granted admission Show Day on membership cards. 1. The Fair Management will assign
stalls and pens GENERAL RULES 1. Livestock Entry Forms (4-H & FAA) MUST BE ENTERED ONLINE AT LEAST 3 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE COMPETITION! QUESTIONS TO: 2.Hogs will be accepted Saturday, October 30- 8:30 A.M. - 10:00 A.M. and removed after 8:00 P.M. 3. Each hog entry must be owned and in possession of Exhibitor by August 30 current year showing and Certified by the Teacher or Agent. 4. Class 1 Heifers must be owned by August 31, all other by September 15, and certified by Teacher or Agent. 5. Feeder Steers must be owned and in possession of Exhibitor 30 days prior to show. 6. In order to maximize participation, the number of livestock one Exhibitor may show will be at the discretion of the Livestock Committee. 7. Calves in Class 1 must be six months old. 8. Cattle will be accepted Saturday November 6, 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM and be removed after 8:00 PM. 9. Goats will be accepted Saturday, November 6, 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM and be removed after 8:00 PM. 10. Lambs must be received Saturday, October 30, 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM. and be removed at the end of the Lamb Show. 11. All entries must be owned by Exhibitors and in his/her possession and Certified by Teacher or Agent. 12. The Fair will not be responsible for loss or damage to any exhibit, but will give the best care possible. 13. Premiums will be paid the day of the show. 14. Exhibitors are prohibited from staying overnight in the barn. 15. Where there is no competition in a Class, Exhibitors will receive second place money. 16. In order to be exhibited, Livestock must meet health requirements as listed below. 17. If exhibitor cannot control animals while in the ring, he/she must remove the animal immediately. HEALTH REQUIREMENTS FOR EXHIBITION OF LIVESTOCK IN GEORGIA GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: All Animals being exhibited in any type of livestock show (local, county, area, district, or state) must have an official certificate of veterinary inspection (health certificate). The health certificate must be issued within 30 days of the exhibition except for Georgia 4-H and FFA shows where the health certificate shall be valid for 4 months. (See exceptions for lambs under III. Sheep.) All goats must meet health requirements and have health certificates meeting requirements set forth by the Georgia Department of agriculture (404) 656-3667. Health Certificate exceptions will be the following: 1. Market swine, market cattle, and market lambs provided no breeding livestock are on the exhibition premise. In addition, all market animals must either be consigned directly to slaughter with no animals on the premise returning to a farm, or be consigned to another market show with no layover or return to a farm. If market animals will be returning to a farm, all animals exhibited must have a health certificate and must satisfy the appropriate test requirements below. 2. Georgia 4-H and ETA sheep, provided a written statement by the county extension agent, vocational agricultural teacher, or local veterinarian is presented in lieu of a health certificate. The statement must attest that the flock of origin has no evidence of footrot, scabies, soremouth, cutaneous fungal lesions, or any other infectious or communicable disease. An official certificate of veterinary inspection must show proof of the above requirements for the appropriate species. (DIVISION B) LAMBS WILL BE SHOWN SATURDAY 10/30/10 at 2 PM 1st - Belt Buckle &
$50.00 1. Wethers or ewe lambs may be shown in the showmanship class. 2. All animals in the Showmanship class must be shown by their owners. MARKET LAMB RULES 1. Lambs must have been owned by the Exhibitor by July 15 of the year of the show. 2. All lambs must weigh a minimum of 75 pounds. 3. Entries must be wethers or ewe lambs. No ram lambs will be allowed. 4. All lambs must have their tails docked. 5. All lambs will be mouthed for age and must have their milk teeth. (Lambs should be born in January or later). 6. Lambs should be sheared and shown in short fleece. 7. Lambs will be weighed for classification purposes; there will be no re-weighs. 8. Lambs will be shown by weight in as near equal classes as possible. 9. Lambs must be received by 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. of the day to be shown, so they can be weighted and classified. PRIZE MONEY
(DIVISION C)
1. This show is open to any breed or crossbreed wether or doe. 2. Goats will be weighted and tagged upon arrival. After weighing, goats will be divided into four weight classes as equal in number as possible. (Number of classes may vary depending on the number of entries and the barn manager’s discretion.) Minimum weight will be 35 lbs. Animals below this minimum weight will be sifted from the show. 3. Each exhibitor may enter a maximum of five goats. 4. All goats must be carrying all milk teeth at time of weigh-in. Goats showing either or both of the first pair of permanent incisors will not be eligible to show. 5. All goats must be dehorned or have horns tipped. 6. All showmanship animals must meet the market meat goat requirements PRIZE MONEY
